Emission Property of Sc2O3-W Matrix Cathode and Generation of High Current Density Sheet Beams for THz Vacuum Electron Sources

چکیده
Sc2O3 doped tungsten matrix dispenser cathode prepared by liquid-liquid doping method exhibits high emission property, i.e., space charge limited current density reaches 48 A/cm at 850 Cb together with the slope of 1.44 has been obtained. Scanning electron microscope observation shows that the matrix has sub-micrometer microstructure, which is favorable for the diffusion of active substance from the inner part of cathode to the cathode surface. A multi-layer of active substance of Ba, Sc, O formed on the surface of the cathode leads to its conspicuous emission performance. Based on this kind of cathode, rectangular electron beam of 100 μm × 600 μm and square beam of 600 μm × 600 μm have been obtained. A uniformly distributed space charge limited current density of more than 50 A/cm can be drawn out from the emitting area at 950 Cb and keeps stable for at least several hundred hours.

Thermionic electron emission microscopy of metal-oxide multilayers on tungsten
Introduction Thermionic cathodes are used in many industrial vacuum electronic applications. Vacuum tubes for high-frequency or high-power applications are one example (e.g., see [1]). The emission properties of thermionic electron sources in vacuum devices are often Bimproved[ by the addition of oxide coatings on the metal cathode surface [2, 3]. The explanation of the improvement is usually b...
متن کاملA Reflex Electron Beam Discharge as a Plasma Source for Electron Beam Generation
A reflex electron beam glow discharge has been used as a plasma source for the generation of broad-area electron beams. An electron current of 120 A ( 12 A/cm2) was extracted from the plasma in 10 ps pulses and accelerated to energies greater than 1 keV in the gap between two grids. The scaling of the scheme for the generation of multikiloamp high-energy electron beams is discussed. E HAVE demo...

Field emission is one of the principal phenomena limiting the operating voltage of practical electron guns. There is interest in developing photoemission cathode based DC electron guns employing cathode field strengths and cathode-anode voltages well above the present stateof-the-art. Such electron sources could provide high brightness, high average current beams for energy recovered supercondu...

Shielding radiation from both x-rays and gamma-rays is important for personnel in medical fields e.g. interventional radiology, nuclear power stations, and other inspection facilities where radiation is involved. Lead is known for its effective shielding property against these high energy radiations, however heaviness and toxicity are its main drawback. In this study effectiveness of non-lead p...
